FLOWER CARE
The list below will help you choose the perfect blooms:
· Flowers should be kept in a cool enviornment as heat will dramatically effect the life span (outside buckets and fruit shop sales may seem a bargain but your flowers will only last a few days at best). Our Flowers are delivered fresh from the Flower growers 3 times a week and hand chosen by our Floral designer in order for you to get the finest quality flowers.
· Check Petals for brown marks, eaten petals or cobwebs as these can be a sign of disease.
· Stems should be green and crisp and not be discolored or slimey. The cut should be diagonal and green in colour, not brown.
· Buds should not be too green as they may not open.
· Flowers should not be too open as open flowers do not last any longer than a few days.
· If you pick up a bunch and a noticable amount of flowers or leaves drop off the stems, flowers maybe sensitive to ethylene and have not been preserved properly.
HOW TO CONDITION FLOWERS WHEN YOU PURCHASE
· Put flowers in water straight away.
· Strip leaves and wash stems to remove field dirt as it can effect some types of flowers.
· Recut stems under running water and (remove roughly 2cm) on an angle.
· Place immediatley in cold water with the preservative solution (that is supplied by Sorrento Flowers with your purchase). Make sure the vase is clean. Vases are best cleaned with warm water with a few drops of bleach such as white king and a clean cloth. Rinse throughly with cold water before filling with water and placing in solution and flowers.
· Flowers need to be kept out of the heat and elements as this will dramatically effect their lifespan.
· Do not place the vase near direct sunlight, on an electrical appliance or anywhere near fruit which can give off a gas which effects them.
· Each day check your flowers for any wilting and remove any yellow leaves.
Continue to change the water and recut the stems every couple of days.
HOW TO CARE FOR INDOOR AND OTHER PLANT VARIETIES
Indoor and pot plants have many different needs to help them grow each can be specific to the plant but the below general tips can help.
· Make sure your plant is water and that the soil feels damp when touched but not over filled with water.
· Read the instruction that come with the plant as location is very important and differes for each plant for example cyclamen need to be kept cool, ideally 10C (50F) to 16C (60F) and they do not like draughty rooms but the Indian azalea needs a room with a steady temperature of around 15C as well as a humid atmosphere - so stand it on a tray of moist gravel.
